Zoungrana Nouhou
President Parlement National de la Jeunesse Burkinabè pour l'Eau (Burkina Faso Youth Parliament for Water)
Nouhou Zoungrana is an environmental technician and youth leader from Burkina Faso, currently serving as President of the Burkina Faso Youth Parliament for Water. He holds a master's degree in climate change, biodiversity and ecosystem services, and works to bridge the gap between scientific research and global policy advocacy. His previous roles include Research Associate at CIFOR-ICRAF and Environmental Safeguards Specialist for the Great Green Wall Initiative. His project work with several organisations highlights a consistent focus on youth leadership, environmental safeguards and community resilience across the Sahel. An active delegate in international governance, he has advocated for SDG 6 and climate action at major global forums, including the 2023 UN Water Conference, UNGA 78, UNFCCC COP28 and CBD COP15. He focuses his efforts on bridging humanitarian aid with long-term, climate-resilient water infrastructure and mobilising sustainable WASH financing for fragile states, on the view that emergency water responses in the Sahel too often stop short of building the durable infrastructure and financing that would prevent the next crisis. Through the Burkina Faso Youth Parliament for Water, Nouhou works to keep that longer-term view present in national and international water advocacy.
