Yiğit Karataş
Digital Product Lead and Research Fellow Vodafone & Kadir Has University Center for Energy and Sustainable Development
Yiğit Karataş works at the intersection of climate diplomacy, strategic foresight, and sustainable resource governance. He serves as Digital Product Lead at Vodafone and as a Research Fellow at Kadir Has University Center for Energy and Sustainable Development, where his research examines energy transitions, regional environmental vulnerabilities, and transboundary water security. Yiğit holds a double major degree in Materials Science and Nanoengineering and Mechatronics Engineering from Sabancı University, and pursues graduate studies in Energy and Sustainable Development. His work bridges the private sector and academic research, applying a systems-level view of how digital infrastructure, energy transitions, and water resources interact across the wider Mediterranean and Black Sea regions. Yiğit is particularly interested in how strategic foresight tools can help governments and institutions anticipate compounding climate and resource pressures rather than respond to them after the fact, and in strengthening transboundary cooperation on shared water basins. Through the Global Youth Water Envoys Program, he aims to bring this cross-sector foresight perspective to discussions ahead of the 2026 UN Water Conference, connecting Türkiye's regional water and energy challenges to the global conversation on cooperation and resilience.
