Assistant Coordinator and Climate leader Malagasy Youth Initiative (MYI)
Tojoniaina Alain Randrianaritiana is an educator and climate leader from Madagascar committed to empowering young people to address environmental challenges through education, innovation, and community action. He uses education as a tool to inspire students to become changemakers for sustainable development. In August 2024, he founded the Antsirabe Green Revolution Initiative (AGRI), a community-based project promoting composting, sustainable waste management, climate-smart agriculture, and responsible water management. Through hands-on workshops, AGRI has empowered over 600 students and community members to transform organic waste into compost, improve soil health, and promote sustainable use of natural resources, including water. He also leads the SDGs Generation Club in Antsirabe, where hes engages students in environmental action and sustainability education. In February 2026, more than 120 students transformed over 10 kg of plastic waste into reusable classroom brooms, promoting circular economy practices. During the Global Day of Action 2026, he engaged over 1,400 students from schools across Antsirabe in awareness sessions on waste management, pollution, and climate responsibility. Additionally, in April 2025, they planted 50 tree saplings around the school and trained 90 students on sustainable practices. These experiences have strengthened his understanding of the connections between climate resilience, education, water security, and community development.
