Oceng Ivan Otim

Hydrogeologist/Student Makerere University

Oceng Ivan Otim is an MSc Geology candidate at Makerere University, Uganda, specialising in Hydrogeology and Engineering Geology. His research applies multicriteria GIS modelling and geoelectrical methods to map groundwater potential across the basement aquifer system of Nebbi District, supporting the Ministry of Water and Environment's research agenda on water scarcity and adaptation. Professionally, he serves as a project hydrogeologist at the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries, supporting the Ministry's mandate under the Water for Agricultural Production Division. His practical experience also includes Project Planning and Management, hydraulic design of piped water supply systems, Cartography and Spatial data analysis, and other groundwater-related activities. He has participated in various CPD trainings relevant to his line of work, such as a training in Advanced Hydraulic Design of Piped Water Supply Systems with the Uganda Institution of Professional Engineers and Engineers Without Borders East Africa. Ivan is driven by a commitment to expanding equitable access to safe water across East Africa and to communicating water science to broader audiences.
