Maryam Ramzi Hasan Alowaisy
Project Officer Terre des hommes foundation
Maryam Ramzi Hasan Alowaisy is a Jordanian youth and humanitarian practitioner with over six years of experience in youth empowerment, refugee response, protection, gender equality, community resilience, and participatory programming. She currently serves as a Project Officer with Terre des Hommes in Azraq Refugee Camp, where she coordinates community-based programs and supervises more than 30 community volunteers. Her work includes youth-led initiatives, environmental clubs, greenhouse activities, psychosocial support, and life-skills programs that give young refugees practical tools alongside emotional support. Her environmental engagement includes Green Impact, a youth-led initiative connecting environmental action with peacebuilding and social cohesion, as well as environmental justice learning with Detroiters Working for Environmental Justice. She has also contributed to regional and international youth platforms and participatory research, bringing community perspectives into broader discussions on displacement and resource scarcity. Her interests include inclusive water governance, climate justice, environmental peacebuilding, and strengthening the participation of young people and communities affected by displacement and resource scarcity in decisions shaping their futures. Maryam sees water and environmental programming inside refugee camps as an underused entry point for building both resilience and social cohesion among displaced communities.
