Leah Hosea Joseph

Leah Hosea Joseph is an Environmental Engineering student at the University of Dodoma (UDOM), currently transitioning into her third year. Passionate about water sustainability and environmental conservation, she actively applies her academic knowledge to real-world solutions. Leah is the founder of "Eco Shine," a university-based project where she manufactures liquid soap and packages it using recycled plastic bottles, directly addressing plastic pollution on campus. Beyond her environmental innovations, she is a trusted youth leader within her church community, where she organizes group activities and guides her peers, using that same organizing ability to encourage fellow students to take plastic waste and water stewardship seriously on campus. Her work with Eco Shine has given her hands-on experience in turning a small-scale environmental idea into a functioning, self-sustaining project, an experience she hopes to build on as she moves further into her engineering studies. Through the Global Youth Water Envoys Program, Leah is eager to deepen her understanding of water resource management, gain international perspectives, and scale her local efforts to drive meaningful change in water security, both on her own campus and in her wider community in Tanzania.
