Fatma Behzad brings 5 years of experience in planning, developing, and designing stormwater and wastewater infrastructure projects across both private consultancy & government sectors. This dual perspective has provided a comprehensive understanding of urban water resource management, blending technical expertise with strategic visioning aligned to Dubai's 2040 Urban Masterplan and the UAE Water Security Strategy 2036. Through her work, Fatma has focused on integrating Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SuDS) into infrastructure planning, pioneered concurrently Digital Twin applications in her organization to optimize infrastructure asset management & strengthen urban resilience. Fatma has contributed to research in sustainable urban development, publishing on lifecycle costing, climate adaptation, and sustainable materials, including geopolymer concrete and green building practices. Beyond technical work, Fatma serves as President of the Dubai Municipality Youth Council, championing youth engagement and empowerment, efforts that helped Dubai Municipality be named 'Best Government Entity in Youth Empowerment' at the 2025 GCC GOV HR Awards. Fatma is also active in environmental activism, participating in hike and ocean clean-ups, and serves as a UN-registered Expert Volunteer. Together, Fatma’s technical expertise, work in youth advocacy, & personal environmental commitment ground her ambition to develop the water sector, a responsibility she carries with pride.
