David Yameogo is a PhD candidate in Sustainable Engineering at Villanova University, where he is developing an integrated water planning framework for climate-resilient investment in Ambovombe-Androy, a chronically water-stressed region in southern Madagascar. His dissertation combines satellite remote sensing and geospatial AI foundation models to estimate water balance, project sectoral water demand under future climate scenarios, and optimize investment portfolios under deep uncertainty. The work is grounded in field campaigns with Catholic Relief Services Madagascar and designed to transfer to other low-data regions across sub-Saharan Africa. He has led water capacity-building work with communities in Burkina Faso, Ghana, Burundi, and Kenya, and contributes to nature-based solutions consulting, including carbon and biodiversity accounting frameworks for partners including Natural Land and Aqua America. His engagement with global water and development policy includes Youth Delegate roles at COP28, the World Food Forum Flagship Event, the World Bank Spring Meetings, the World Bank Group Summit, the UN SDG Summit, the ECOSOC Youth Forum, and the UN Water Conference. He was recognized as an FAO World Food Forum Young Scientist and contributed to an FAO publication on youth in agrifood systems. Originally from Burkina Faso, he is bilingual in French and English.
