David Herman Peñaloza Ganan
Water Resources Management Technical Consultant FONAPA - Fondo del Agua para la Conservación de la Cuenca del Río Paute (Water Trust for the Conservation of the Paute River Basin)
David Herman Peñaloza Ganán is a Civil Engineer from the University of Cuenca, Ecuador, with experience in hydraulic modeling, sustainable water resources management solutions, research, consulting, and community outreach projects. His academic background is complemented by an international focus through the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), where he participated in the HydrolatinAmerica program focused on hydraulic modeling, and an academic exchange at Santo Tomás University (Colombia). These experiences strengthened his vision of sustainable water management and the exchange of best practices. Furthermore, as a student, he founded an interdisciplinary student club that has spearheaded initiatives in training, youth leadership, and water and sustainability management. Currently, in his professional practice, he works as a Water Resources Management Technical Consultant in river basins, addressing issues of water governance, territorial planning, and the strengthening of management instruments for conservation and sustainable use areas. At the same time, he volunteers as Deputy Coordinator of the Biosphere Reserve Macizo del Cajas Young Network – UNESCO, and he has worked as Water Resources and Technical Project Manager of the Outreach Directorate of the University of Cuenca, promoting collaboration between academia, institutions, and communities for the development of sustainability-focused projects.
