Assalah Hussein Meteab Al-Hadrawi, is a young Iraqi water and environmental activist and public health advocate, as well as a medical student at the University of Kufa in Najaf, Iraq. Her work focuses on the intersection of water and its security, climate change, public health, and youth participation in policy-making. She is a member of the Iraqi Youth Supreme Council under the Iraqi presidency and works at the International Energy and Environmental Foundation in Najaf, Iraq. She has represented Iraqi youth in international environmental and climate spaces, including COP29, UNCCD COP16, Minamata COP6, and the BRS Conventions, advocating for stronger youth engagement in environmental policy-making and climate justice. Her work is closely connected to Iraq's water challenges, including drought, water scarcity, salinity, and pollution, and their impacts on public health, agriculture, livelihoods, and local communities. She is particularly interested in connecting scientific evidence with community-led action and practical policy solutions. To help meet the SDGs in her community, she founded the Green Fuel Initiative and Seeds of Hope, a youth-led ecosystem restoration initiative addressing desertification and environmental degradation in Iraq. Through the Global Youth Water Envoys, she hopes to strengthen her contribution to water action, exchange knowledge with young water leaders globally, and amplify the voices of communities affected by water insecurity.
