Aseel Khalaf Suleiman Al-Habahbeh is an Agricultural Engineer and Head of the Agricultural Extension Department at the Petra Region Agriculture Directorate, Ministry of Agriculture, Jordan. She holds Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Agricultural Engineering, graduating first in her class with high distinction. With extensive expertise in climate-smart agriculture, she actively champions water-saving irrigation, rooftop hydroponics, greywater recycling, and community-led climate adaptation. She serves as a facilitator for Farmer Field Schools and leads several local environmental initiatives focused on empowering rural communities and upgrading local early flood warning systems in the Petra region. Her work sits at the intersection of two pressures Jordan faces at once: it is one of the most water-scarce countries in the world, and much of its rural economy still depends on agriculture. Aseel's extension work is built around helping farming communities reduce water use without reducing yields, using practical, low-cost techniques that households and small farms can adopt directly. Through the Global Youth Water Envoys Program, she hopes to connect Jordan's rural water-saving practices to the wider global conversation on agricultural water efficiency ahead of the 2026 UN Water Conference.
