Armand Sikiri Nakabiri

Armand Sikiri Nakabiri is a Congolese student committed to developing sustainable solutions to current climate and social challenges. His expertise lies at the intersection of civil engineering, architecture, and water engineering. Armand works to optimize urban water drainage systems to strengthen his community's resilience and address the problem of recurrent flooding caused by climate change. Armand is also interested in social issues such as peacebuilding between communities and the relationship between climate change impacts and people's living environment. Recently, Armand and his team designed a project called AVATAR, aimed at solving four problems related to fire, water, pollution, and land in a neighbourhood of his city, winning 2nd prize in the residential category of the Solar Decathlon Design Challenge Africa 2025 held at the American University in Cairo. This project was also announced as the winner of the IEA Youth Energy Efficiency Leadership Award 2026 in Montreal and selected for exhibition at the first Pan-African Biennale of Architecture 2026 in Nairobi. By all of this, Armand’s one goal is to make heard the voice of young people long excluded from developing solutions to major community problems.
