Environmental Specialist Interamerican Bank of Development/ Directorate of Drinking Water and Sanitation

Agustina Beatriz Benitez Contreras is an environmental engineer from Paraguay with experience in water management, climate change adaptation and youth participation. She has worked with public institutions, civil society organizations and international cooperation projects. Currently, she is an Environmental Specialist at the Lake Ypacaraí Basin Sanitation Program, through IDB CLIMA, at Paraguay's Directorate of Drinking Water and Sanitation of the Ministry of Public Works. She is an advisor to Paraguay's Youth Network for Climate Action, having previously served as its National Coordinator. Through these roles, she has promoted youth capacity-building and participation in climate action, and participated in international forums, including COP28 and COP30. Agustina will soon begin the MSc in Water and Sustainable Development at IHE Delft to deepen her knowledge and continue contributing to water management in her country.
